BIST - Program BIST HOME 2

About Cornerstones of Care

We partner with children, young adults and families to achieve safety and health through mental and behavioral health services, foster care and adoption, youth and family support services and education. Individuals receive trauma-informed care by certified staff to develop skills and knowledge that will empower them to live safe, productive and non-violent lives. We do this by meeting the most basic behavioral healthcare needs of our community, including:

  • Treating trauma and improving individual health
  • Reuniting families and placing children in foster care in loving homes
  • Caring for children and young adults with acute mental health needs
  • Nurturing the self-worth and dignity of all individuals in our care

Above all, we strive to create a safe healing environment that respects dignity and inclusion so our children and families can experience more fulfilling and rewarding lives.

Cornerstones of Care developed the Behavior Intervention Support Team (BIST) Program in 1990 as a way to respond to the community’s need to better serve students in their own school districts. Today BIST consultants partner with educators and parents in order to develop proactive strategies tailored to help all students succeed. Cornerstones of Care's BIST Program currently provides training and support to more than 300 schools throughout the Midwest.

Together with BIST, Cornerstones of Care envisions communities where youth and young adults have the hope, skills, and opportunities to live (and learn) safely and successfully, realizing their full potential.
